# I wanted to make sure – Clasie

Southampton midfielder Jordy Clasie has [spoken](https://sportwitness.ning.com/forum/topics/dutchman-sure-about-southampton-transfer-koeman-a-big-factor) about how he needed to make sure a move to the Premier League was right for him and that Saints manager Ronald Koeman was a major part of his decision process.

Clasie joined the club from Feyernoord in the summer after multiple seasons of transfer speculation regarding the Dutch international and a move to the English Premier League. However, Clasie has said how he needed to make sure a move was the best possible one for him to make; Koeman made Southampton that perfect move.

He didn’t have the greatest start to his career on the South Coast, getting injured on his debut in Southampton’s Europa League qualifying game. This injury kept him out of action until just last month when he made his Premier League debut for the club against Leicester. He has now started getting a regular starting spot and is looking more settled in England.

Here is what Clasie said about the move and what part Koeman played in it:

> I wanted to make a transfer only when I was sure I was ready. What I was looking for was a club where I would feel at home and where the coach would have confidence in me. Naturally I found that in Ronald Koeman.
