Southampton centre forward, who can play on either flank, Shane Long has been ruled out of The Republic Of Ireland’s first leg of their European Championship play-off against Bosnia on Friday.
However, he has not been excluded from contention for the second leg, which takes place on Monday night. Long has been injured since the last international break when he went off injured for Ireland whilst playing against Poland in their last qualifier.

His injury took place just days after his memorable goal for Ireland as they beat the reigning world champions 1-0. The injury has seen him miss the last month for Southampton, yet he could be in line to feature on Monday and then possibly; for Southampton against Stoke after the international break.
Despite currently remaining with the Southampton medical staff to deal with his foot injury, he could still yet be given the green light to play on Monday. This would be a big boost for Ireland in their hopes for next summer.
