# Saints linked with impressive Ligue 1 midfielder

According to [reports](https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2015/11/11/report-southampton-and-lyon-interested-in-nice-midfielder-jean-s/), Southampton and French giants Lyon are interested in signing Nice midfielder, Jean Seri.

The 24-year-old midfielder is only in his first season at the Ligue 1 club, however his performances since settling have caught the eye of many clubs across Europe, with some being at the top echelons of world football.

Standing at 5ft 5, Seri is a more technically gifted player as opposed to a powerful and physical presence, but his ability on the ball and his tenacity has earned him several plaudits as he has taken the French league by storm in his first season.

Seri’s performances so far for Nice have also earned him his first call up to his native Ivory Coast team, as he made his debut for the country just last month against Morocco.

Despite already having a wealth of talent within the midfield, Southampton could be tempted to look into the signing of Seri as it is expected that star midfielder Victor Wanyama will leave the club next summer and it is possible that Seri could be on a long shortlist to replace the Kenyan powerhouse at the club.
