Koeman – Unlikely to make January moves

Southampton manager Ronald Koeman has said that it is unlikely that Saints will bring players into the club in the January transfer window.

Speaking in his pre-Sunderland press conference, Ronald Koeman first ruled out the possibility of signing Juan Quintero from Porto, on loan at Rennes, who Southampton had been linked with in recent days. His reason behind this was that he has enough midfielders already and does not need to strengthen that position.

He then went on to say that it is unlikely that he will be bringing in any more players in the January transfer window. However, he has failed to completely rule out the possibility of bringing in new talent, as it all depends on who Southampton let go in the winter window.

Players like Gaston Ramirez, who looks ever more likely to leave, will more than likely be replaced if he does leave. This means that Koeman may just be forced into signing that extra midfielder that he just ruled out.

Do Saints need to buy?
