According to thesecretfootballer, a scout has said that Arsenal had a deal agreed to sign then Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin in January of this year.
It was thought that Arsene Wenger was very keen on the Frenchman joining and the deal was almost rubber stamped before Wenger became undecided and delayed the deal.
It was no secret that Morgan Schneiderlin was going to leave Southampton in the not too distant future, however, it seems as though he was very close to leaving over six months before he actually did.

Morgan Schneiderlin signed for Manchester United in the summer for over £20m, a move that came at a good junction for both the club and the player to part ways. He served the club well and deserved to move on to a club of Manchester United’s stature, arguably the biggest club in England, and one of the biggest in the world.
Yet, it seems as though if it were not for Arsene Wenger’s hesitance in January, the French international could have left the Saints for the North London club in January.
Here is what the scout said about the matter.
It’s Arsene [Wenger]. He’s so indecisive it’s frightening. We had Schneiderlin done and dusted last January and, by the summer, the gaffer had changed his mind.
