Klopp’s arrival will not affect The Saints, says Koeman

Saints boss Ronald Koeman has stated that the arrival of new Liverpool boss, Jurgen Klopp should not affect his Southampton side as they prepare to take on Klopp and his new team this Sunday.

Klopp will take charge of his first home game in the Premier League this Sunday as his Liverpool side are set to face a strong Southampton side this Sunday afternoon.

So far, the German has been in charge of two games for Liverpool, drawing 0-0 away to Tottenham Hotspur in his first Premier League match, and drawing 1-1 to Rubin Kazan on Thursday evening in the Europa League group stage.

However, Koeman has expressed his feeling towards the influence of the new man in the Kop, saying that it won’t really make any difference to the outcome of Sunday’s game. The Dutchman said: “Managers don’t win and managers don’t lose, it’s the players between the white lines who make decisions and put the quality in.”

“I think it’s too much talking about managers. Talk about the teams, because they are more important. I didn’t really see a different Liverpool on Thursday. Yes, in the first 20 or 25 minutes against Tottenham they did more high pressing than they used to under Rodgers”, Koeman insisted.

“We know we can beat the big ones and Liverpool are one of the biggest in the Premier League. We know that we have to reach our level to be strong and to have a chance to win the game.”

Do you think Klopp will affect the outcome of the match on Sunday?
