# Koeman wants silverware at Southampton

Southampton manager Ronald Koeman has said that he wants to win [silverware](https://www.clubcall.com/southampton/silverware-in-koemans-sights-1786048.html) whilst at Southampton and wants to follow a similar path as the likes of Aston Villa, Hull and Wigan in recent years to get to the finals of cups.

Ronald Koeman did manage to get Southampton into the Europa League by guiding the Saints to a seventh placed finish in the Premier League last season.

However, Ronald Koeman is not quite satisfied with that and would like to win silverware with Saints and bring some trophies back to St.Mary’s for the fans to enjoy.

Southampton face Aston Villa in the Capital One Cup this month at St.Mary’s and a win for the home side would see them progress through to the quarter-finals of the competition.

With the strength in-depth that Southampton have in their squad means that it is entirely realistic that Southampton could have a run in the Capital One Cup as well as keeping up their league form to a high standard.

Speaking about winning trophies with Southampton, Koeman said:

> The ambition is to continue and to improve. Make it better in how we play and get results and to achieve what we did last year and the ambition to win a title.

> It is very difficult, we know, but if Aston Villa can play in the FA Cup final, why not Southampton? That would be great and we will fight for that.
