# Ward-Prowse to learn from Leicester slip up

James Ward-Prowse has said that Southampton need to learn from their lacklustre attempt in seeing off Saturday’s game against Leicester.

Southampton had taken a 2-0 lead going into half-time, but looked a different team in the second half as Jamie Vardy’s brace saved a point for The Foxes.

Ward-Prowse played a pivotal part in The Saints’ second goal, floating the ball into the box from a short corner, scored by centre-back Virgil van Dijk. Despite his contribution, they could not handle Leicester’s second half surge, with Ward-Prowse acknowledging this when speaking to [saintsfc](https://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/article/20151018-james-ward-prowse-post-leicester-home-2750598.aspx).

“We were aware of it at half-time that they will come out of the traps and cause difficulties and unfortunately we didn’t rise to the challenge that was ahead.”

“The lack of concentration, I thought the goals were quite sloppy, I think they could have been avoided. But we weren’t ready for it, even though we spoke about it at half time.”

Top Scorer Jamie Vardy has now improved his tally to an impressive 9 league goals for Leicester, and the Under-21 skipper was more than impressed with the Strikers recent run of form.

“Anything he hits goes in. He was a big threat that we needed to nullify and we were aware of that before the game, but he’s in good form at the minute.”

Ronald Koeman’s men now have a week to prepare for Sunday’s clash against Liverpool, with newly appointed manager Jürgen Klopp looking for his first win as manager after drawing with Tottenham 0-0 Saturday lunch-time.
