Former Southampton midfielder Jack Cork has spoken about just how bizarre Mauricio Pochettino’s training sessions were whilst he was at the club.

It was well-known that in his first and only full pre-season with the club, his methods of team bonding were odd to say the least. Many Southampton fans will be able to re-call videos of the team and Pochettino walking across hot coals; bizarre, but quite amusing it seemed.
In a recent interview regarding Swansea’s match against Tottenham last weekend, Cork spoke about how Pochettino made the players hold a wooden arrow against each other’s throats in a ‘team-bonding exercise’.
‘Each player had to place the point of the arrow into the soft tissue area at the notch of their throat while a team-mate held the other end,’ Cork told The Sun.

‘You then had to push against the arrow until it bent or snapped – it felt like the arrow was going into your throat. But there was no chance of injuring yourself. It was a team-bonding thing to build up trust in your team-mates.’
Cork went on to speak about just how gruelling the training sessions were under Pochettino, and how hard he would work the Southampton players to get the very best out of them in-game situations.
What do you make of these strange coaching methods from the current Tottenham Hotspur boss?
