# Wanyama set to snub new Saints deal

According to reports yesterday from the [DailyMail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3220064/Victor-Wanyama-set-snub-new-deal-Southampton-denied-Tottenham-move.html), Kenyan midfielder Victor Wanyama is set to snub any advances from Southampton over a new contract.

The club are reportedly setting up a new five-year deal for Wanyama. However, he will reject it. It is thought that Wanyama is upset over a collapsed move to Tottenham after the midfielder had handed in a transfer request.

Wanyama had handed in a transfer request to Southampton amid reported interest from Spurs and Wanyama was very keen to link back up with former manger Mauricio Pochettino.

Victor Wanyama has been at Southampton for two years, entering his third season with Southampton, and at just 24 years of age, has room for improvement. He has amassed 57 Premier League appearances in that time and has impressed some of the biggest sides in the league and the Kenyan clearly felt like it was his time to move on from Southampton and reach his evident potential.

Ronald Koeman blocked any attempts from Spurs to sign him and any other player for that matter following a lot of speculation over his players as the Dutchman was adamant that he was not going to lose any more of his stars.

Wanyama has not featured in either of Southampton’s last two matches due to the speculation concerning his future. It still remains to be seen whether Wanyama feels he can play for Southampton in their next fixture after the international break as he is in the mindset that he wants to leave the club.

Spurs are thought to be considering another attempt to sign him in the January transfer window and Koeman and Southampton may be more inclined to sell if Clasie returns from injury and Davis and Romeu continue their fine form.
