# Tadic berates Saints style after Europa League exit

Speaking to [Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11700/9970067/dusan-tadic-criticises-southamptons-tactics), Southampton attacker Dusan Tadic admitted that Southampton had not used the correct tactics for their Europa League defeat to FC Midtjylland.

Southampton were unable to reach the group stages of the Europa League after they lost 2-1 on aggregate to the Danish side following a 1-0 away defeat on Thursday.

Southampton’s Europa League exit comes after a relatively poor start to their Premier League campaign, not having won any of their first three fixtures coming into a home match versus newly promoted Norwich on Sunday.

Speaking to [Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11700/9970067/dusan-tadic-criticises-southamptons-tactics) Tadic said “We are very disappointed. I feel a little bit ashamed that we didn’t go through,”

“We started playing too many long balls. This is not our football. I understand that you can play too much direct sometimes. But I know this team. We like to play football on the ground.”

He then went on to talk about how what football he feels suits Southampton better “We need to show more and play better as a team. It’s not good. We lost some important players, some other players come in and they need time to adapt.

“We need to play more football because we’re a footballing team. I always play football in my team and I know that if you play too much long ball then it’s difficult

“We need to play football how we were playing at the beginning of last year. From that we can do something.”

Dusan Tadic with some strong words on Southampton’s style of play on Thursday, voicing an opinion that many fans and possible players share from the game alongside the Serbian international.

Dusan Tadic was used only a substitute in the game, however, he will be hoping that he will return to the starting line up when Southampton host Norwich in just over 24 hours.

Tadic was also an unused substitute when Southampton drew 0-0 with Watford in the Premier League last week following the game versus Everton in which he was subbed off at half time.

He managed 4 goals and 7 assists in the Premier League last season. A total that he will be hoping to surpass this season, giving he, and Southampton, can get a run of form together.
