The Bild, a german newspaper, is reporting that Southampton are apparently interested in the FC Schalke 04 midfielder Leon Goretzka. Southampton have openly said they are interested in bringing in a few more players for the upcoming season which will bring more fixtures with less time for rest then last season.
Southampton are reported to be willing to pay up to £11.2 million for the German International. The 20 year old is an exciting prospect and was called by his old coach Peter Neururer at Vfl Bochum “the talent of the century”.
After another exodus Southampton seem to have some money to spend and even though defence may be a greater concern, another creative midfielder would be welcomed after the unit looked a little flat in the second half against Vitesse with the exception of Sadio Mane. This along with questions surrounding Dusan Tadic’s consistency as a playmaker fuel the transfer rumour. With other reports of Julian Draxler leaving and an underwhelming finish in the Bundesliga last season it will be interesting to see if the German club easily part with the young prospect.
