Southampton manager Ronald Koeman has confirmed that the Saints received a bid from Manchester United for the purchase of midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin, as per the report from Matt Barlow of the daily Mail.
Man Utd have been targeting the French international player for a while now and were reported to have made a £20 million bid for him.
However when Koeman was speaking ahead of Southampton’s pre-season trip to Austria, he revealed that the offer ‘wasn’t serious’.
Schneiderlin missed training on Monday but Koeman was confident of the player joining the squad for the start of their pre-season campaign.
“He will travel with the rest of the squad.
“He was not feeling well, had contact with the doctor and stayed at home.
“We had, two weeks ago, a bid from Manchester United. It wasn’t enough. It wasn’t serious. And no more bids up to today.”
Arsenal are also said to be interested in acquiring the Frenchman’s services.
It is thought that the Saints would only be interested in selling the 25-year-old if they receive a bid upwards of £25 million.
Schneiderlin was bought from French club Strasbourg in 2008 and he has gone on to establish himself as a key player in the Southampton team, accumulating over 200 appearances for them.
