# The Rumour Mill

Morgan Schneiderlin looks set to move away from Southampton with Manchester United looking like the new frontrunners in the race to sign the Frenchman, overtaking Arsenal.

Saints legend, Matt Le Tissier, confirmed his belief that the 25 year-old would be off this summer saying (to *Sky Sports)*: “It’s probably more likely that he’ll leave than stay. The big question is whether a top-four side meets his valuation.

Victor Wanyama revealed in an interview on Kenyan TV that he would be open to a move to Arsenal but the midfielder seemed to distanced himself almost immediately from his own comments.

Wanyama said: “It would be nice to move to Arsenal. But at this moment such decisions can only be made by Southampton and that is where my concentration as a player is.”

According to the Guardian, Saints are leading the race to sign QPR striker Charlie Austin who is holding talks regarding his future over the next two days with the Rangers hierarchy.

A host of English clubs are battling it out for Austin’s signature including Newcastle United and West Bromwich Albion Albion, but Southampton are reportedly willing to shell out £10million for the 25 year-old.

Southampton are looking to sign with Sampodoria striker, Stefano Okaka according to reports in Italy.

The chairman of the Serie A side is said to be in London this weekend as he looks to try and negotiate deals for two players; Okaka and Eder who have both been linked with Saints, West Ham and Sunderland.

The Daily Mirror has been reporting that Southampton and Newcastle are interested in Bas Dost of Wolfsburg.

The striker has the best scoring conversion rate in Europe at 41 per-cent but only started 17 games last term as the Wolves are distinctly top-heavy.

Southampton remain interested in Feyenoord centre-half Sven van Beek, but will have to fight off Tottenham to land the player.

The Dutch international played under Ronald Koeman during the Saints Manager’s stint in Rotterdam, admittedly only four times, and Koeman hopes he will follow in the footsteps of Dusan TAdic and Graziano Pelle who both arrived from Eredivisie last summer.

Portuguese newspaper A Bola are reporting that Southampton are close to landing Benfica defender André Almeida.

The clubs have reportedly been in talks for the last two weeks with a deal close to being struck, with a fee in the region of €10million believed to be agreed.

Finally, on-loan Torino midfielder Omar El Kaddouri is also said to be on Southampton’s radar as he will not be signed permanently by the Italian club while his parent club Napoli look to offload him.

Marseille are reportedly leading the chase but according to the player’s agent, Mino Raiola, Saints and Aston Villa have both shown interest.
