Southampton striker Manolo Gabbiadini has spoken of his appreciation for the club’s fans following the 1-0 win over Swansea City on Tuesday.
The victory means that Saints are now three points clear of the bottom three with just one Premier League game remaining, with their status in the top-flight all but secure.
Gabbiadini netted the decisive goal at the Liberty Stadium after coming off the bench with roughly 20 minutes to play. He latched onto Charlie Austin’s deflected effort on goal from a corner to net in front of the 2,000 travelling fans.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Gabbiadini hailed the Saints supporters’ influence.

It’s the best. The fans were all there behind the goal and the guys ran over. The importance of the goal was just so big.
For the fans, who have always been with us; they’ve not criticised us and always been positive, letting us get on with what we need to do.
It’s been a difficult season for Gabbiadini at Southampton, with the Italian attacker finding the net on only five occasions in the Premier League.
This shortage of game-time has led to Gabbiadini being linked with a move back to his homeland of Italy. Lazio, Bologna and most recently Torino have been named as potential destinations for the 26-year-old.
