Southampton goalkeeper Alex McCarthy is keen for his side to take the positives from their win over Bournemouth into their trip to Everton this weekend.
The Saints shot-stopper had a sublime game against the Cherries, making three crucial saves as the hosts came away with a 2-1 win. A brace from Dusan Tadic cancelled out Josh King’s equaliser for Bournemouth on the stroke of half-time.
McCarthy has been playing well since his introduction to the starting line-up just before the turn of the year and has established himself as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper.

As quoted by the Saints’ official website, McCarthy discussed the mood of the dressing room following the win over Bournemouth whilst looking ahead to Saturday’s trip to Merseyside.
There’s a lot of positives to take from that. The dressing room is buzzing and hopefully, that provides a good bit of momentum. We almost forgot what it was like to win in the league, but to get the three points today was massive and it makes the week ahead a lot more enjoyable.
There’s a massive buzz. I thought we played well, and there’s a lot of positives to take as we prepare for the Everton game next week.
A win for Saints at Goodison Park would put them above Swansea and out of the relegation zone for the time being if Carlos Carvalhal’s men fail to defeat Bournemouth this weekend.
