Southampton manager Mark Hughes has claimed that he will look to now call on players he can ‘rely on’ following the team’s embarrassing 3-0 defeat at West Ham.
The Saints boss spoke to the club’s official website after the match at the London Stadium and made some interesting comments regarding his plans for future matches.
It’s been helpful. Clearly, some players find it a little bit difficult to transfer what they produce in training games into match situations. I need guys I can rely on who can produce six, seven, eight out of ten week in, week out. If we can get that collectively from everybody, we’ve got a better chance.
It seems Hughes was less than impressed with some individuals in the 3-0 defeat at West Ham and could look to make plenty of changes for Saints’ trip to Arsenal next weekend.

Southampton are currently sat dangerously low in 18th place, with a testing seven fixtures still yet to be played. They face Arsenal and Chelsea in their next two Premier League outings.
Hughes will be desperate to turn things around at Southampton but could find things difficult, with the morale of the team evidently low.
We’ve got to be better. Next week we’re up against a team (Arsenal) who will arguably test us more than West Ham have, so that should focus everybody’s mind.
Saints have won one Premier League game in their last 19 and have come out of their last two matches in the top flight with 3-0 defeats to their name.
