Southampton right-back Richard Bakary has joined Crystal Palace on trial, as per a report in the Croydon Advertiser.
The 20-year-old is out of contract in the summer and with it looking unlikely that he’ll be offered a new deal at St Mary’s, he’s joining the Eagles for the next few weeks, where he’ll hope to impress enough to secure a deal.
The Benin international joined Saints from Chelsea four years ago but hasn’t been able to force his way into the first team.
He played for Palace’s development squad in a game against Cardiff City at Selhurst Park this lunchtime and he’ll be with the club for the next few weeks.
Southampton have a decent crop of right-backs at the club, so it is no surprise to see Bakary looking elsewhere as he looks to finally make the step up to playing regular, first-team football. Whether that is at Palace or elsewhere remains to be seen, but it looks like his time at Southampton will be coming to an end.
