Southampton’s Senior First Team Coach Kelvin Davis and Head of Goalkeeping Dave Watson will be in temporary charge at the club until a new manager is appointed, but the Saints board want a new boss in place when Saints face Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup quarter finals, according to Chief football writer at the Press Association, Simon Peach.

Mauricio Pellegrino was sacked earlier this evening with Saints in 17th place in the Premier League.

It seems like the 3-0 loss to Newcastle United at the weekend was the straw that broke the camel’s back and with Southampton in serious danger of being relegated, the board have decided to make a change.

Former Saints goalkeeper Davis, who played over 300 games for the club, will take training whilst the search for new boss goes on, and he’ll be aided by Watson, who originally joined the club as part of Ronald Koeman’s backroom staff.
