Manolo Gabbiadini is not receiving sufficient game time at Southampton at the moment and speculation has been mounting regarding his future at the club.
The Italian striker appears to be some way down the pecking order of attackers under Mauricio Pellegrino, with both Guido Carrillo and Shane Long both seemingly preferred. Gabbiadini could well be the club’s fourth choice striker when Charlie Austin returns from his hamstring injury.
However, Gabbiadini’s agent Silvio Pagliari has often made assurances that the player is happy in England and is happy to continue fighting for his place in the Southampton side.
This does not mean that Gabbiadini is not attracting interest from elsewhere, though, and Sport Witness quote Pagliari as claiming that some of Saints’ fellow Premier League competitors are interested in swooping for the ex-Napoli forward.
First of all, it should be emphasised that Manolo is in the Premier League, where he is doing well even if he does not play at the moment, and before leaving he will think about it for a long time.
Among other things there are other clubs of the Premier who are thinking of him.
Bologna are understood to be keen on re-signing Gabbiadini this summer and if Pellegrino continues to neglect to use the clever striker, it would come as no surprise to see a transfer negotiated at the end of the campaign, despite the player being a huge fans’ favourite at St Mary’s.
