Southampton eye move for Quincy Promes
Southampton are interested in bringing Spartak Moscow and Netherlands winger Quincy Promes to St. Mary’s this January transfer window, according to Sky Sports
Promes has been pretty much an ever-present for Spartak this season, as he has been since his £15m move from FC Twente, scoring 53 league goals in his three and a half seasons in the Russian capital, 10 of which have come in the current campaign.
It is believed that he is keen on a move to England and the Premier League, with the Saints looking like the club most likely to sign him. However, Spartak insist that they will not listen to offers of anything below £30m.
Spartak haven’t played a match this calendar year, but Promes scored two goals in their last match, a 3-0 win against rivals CSKA Moscow.
Spartak currently sit third in the Russian Premier League, in the Champions League places, eight points behind runaway leaders Lokomotiv Moscow.
Promes is the joint league’s top scorer, along with Aleksandr Kokorin of second placed Zenit St. Petersburg and Fedor Smolov of Krasnodar, who is reportedly a target for West Ham United.
Promes has also helped the Krasno-Belye to the Europa League knockout stages, where they face Athletic Bilbao after finishing third in their Champions League Group, which was won by Liverpool.
