Southampton will make another trip to London this weekend as they face Watford at Vicarage Road.
Saints are set to be out Charlie Austin, but Jeremy Pied, Cedric Soares and Wesley Hoedt have all returned to training this week and are in line to be involved in the squad at Watford.
Saints boss Mauricio Pellegrino, as quoted by the club’s official website, stated that the trio could return this weekend.
All of them have been training today. Not 100 per cent but tomorrow I think they will be a part of the main group in training. After we will decide.
One thing is their medical condition and another is their football condition. We have to analyse tomorrow. But the good news is all of them could be ready.
Cedric has been out for nearly a month after picking up an injury against Premier League champions Chelsea in December but is nearing a return.
Hoedt and Pied have both picked up injuries of late but are back with the squad and you’d expect the Dutchman, Hoedt to come back into the side after missing the last two matches with concussion.
The Saints boss also spoke about the options he has in his side if some of the players can’t quite make it back this weekend.
It is one possibility, obviously Jan [Bednarek] has been training well. He has been getting better, but he had to play out of position [against Fulham]. Jan is a guy that is always focused, but he is really young, he manages the principle well.
The boss also spoke about Austin, who remains sidelined with an injury which has seen him missing since before Christmas in the draw with Huddersfield Town.
Charlie will be out for a long period of time, but we have to be optimistic because we’re working on a couple of targets.
