Reading are keen to sign Sam McQueen from Southampton this month, Royals boss Jaap Stam has revealed.
The Saints academy graduate is regarded as no more than a squad player at this moment in time and it seems clubs are circling to secure his services on a loan deal.
McQueen has made one Premier League start this season, which came away at Manchester United last month.
Championship outfit Reading are keen to add reinforcements to their squad this month and have identified McQueen as a viable option on a temporary basis, the Reading Chronicle reports.
Saints are currently blessed with three options at left-back. Ryan Bertrand is the undisputed first choice in his position, but Matt Targett and McQueen have been vying for the spot as Bertrand’s deputy. Targett has, however, received loan offers from elsewhere, including Fulham.
McQueen is also a competent left winger and it seems his versatility is an attractive proposition for Stam. Saints are unlikely to part company with two of their full-backs this window, though.
