Southampton hopeful of Walcott deal
Southampton are hopeful of completing a deal to sign Arsenal forward Theo Walcott this month.
According to The Daily Echo, Southampton remain confident that they can secure a move for Walcott.
This is despite Arsene Wenger claiming that he wants Walcott to stay at the club.
Walcott is reportedly open to the move, given his lack of Premier League game time this season.
Arsenal are thought to be looking for a fee in the region of £25m for Walcott, which would smash Southampton’s record transfer fee.
The sale of Virgil van Dijk to Liverpool for £75m has given the club funds to back Mauricio Pellegrino in the transfer market this month.
England are set to play in the World Cup in Russia this summer, with a move to Southampton likely to boost his chances of making the squad.
Current Southampton left-back Ryan Bertrand is expected to make the trip to Russia.
