Southampton have been strongly linked with a move for AS Monaco striker Guido Carrillo recently.
A report last week claimed that Saints were discussing a deal with Monaco for Carrillo, who is stated to be valued at a fee of £17 million.
Now though, according to a fresh report from the Daily Mail, the forward is said to be keen on linking up with his compatriot Mauricio Pellegrino by joining Southampton.
Carrillo worked alongside Pellegrino during his days at Estudiantes and is seemingly enthused by the prospect of playing under him once again.
The 26-year-old has scored just four goals in 15 appearances in Ligue 1 this season, although it should be stressed that only two of these appearances were starts.
Carrillo netted a hat-trick at the weekend as Monaco put Moulins Yzeure, a fourth tier team in France, to the sword in the Coupe de France.
Saints are in need of attacking inspiration and it seems Carrillo is a genuine target.
