We’re now one week into the January transfer window, and it’s safe to say that Southampton have been characteristically quiet.
The club currently sit in 17th place on the Premier League table and Mauricio Pellegrino has confirmed that he and the recruitment staff are making efforts to secure a couple of signings at the very least this month.
However, although the actual business has been kept under wraps, the transfer rumours haven’t stopped.

Monday 1st January
Southampton have reportedly made signing Theo Walcott from Arsenal a priority over the course of the next two transfer windows.
Yeovil want to either extend Olufela Olomola’s loan deal until the end of the season, or sign the player permanently from Saints, according to their manager Darren Way.
Tuesday 2nd January
There were no transfer rumours emerging on Tuesday, but the team fell to a 2-1 home defeat at Crystal Palace, seeing them drop down to 17th in the league…
Wednesday 3rd January
Southampton are being linked with Nicolas Gaitan, who Atletico reportedly value at just £13.3m.
Saints are also claimed to be keen on Celtic centre-back Erik Sviatchenko.
Lille defender Ibrahim Amadou is said to be a target for Southampton.
Talks between Theo Walcott’s agent and Southampton are reported to be ongoing.
Thursday 4th January
Yeovil Town are closing in on a deal to land Olufela Olomola permanently.
Mauricio Pellegrino was coy when discussing the rumours surrounding Theo Walcott.
Friday 5th January
Southampton are said to be discussing a move for Monaco striker Guido Carrillo.
Saints target Theo Walcott’s future at Arsenal coulddepend on whether or not Alexis Sanchez leaves.
Walcott would, however, be open to a move to Italy, his agent has revealed.
Saints are also being linked with an audacious swoop for Barcelona youngster Jose Arnaiz.
Saturday 6th January
Mauricio Pellegrino confirmed after his side’s win at Fulham that Saints are indeed interested in Theo Walcott.
Walcott is, however, still wanted at Arsenal by Arsene Wenger.
Sunday 7th January
Saints are reportedly set to rekindle their interest in Celtic midfielder Stuart Armstrong.
