Brighton vs Southampton: Match Preview
Southampton travel to newly-promoted Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday, in their first away trip across the south coast this season.
The Saints will be looking to build on their 1-0 win over West Brom last weekend, with their hosts eyeing back-to-back wins, after their emphatic 3-0 win away at West Ham.
Steve Sidwell appears to be Brighton’s only long-term injury worry, with the midfielder last featuring for the Seagulls against Watford in September. Apart from that, they are expected to play a similar side to the one that beat West Ham, with Glenn Murray likely to lead the line after netting twice in that fixture.
Mauricio Pellegrino’s side will be without Mario Lemina, who has suffered an ankle injury in training. Moroccan magician Sofiane Boufal will be looking to nail down a starting place after a series of impressive substitute appearances.
In terms of history, Brighton have only won twice against Saints in the last 13 meetings in all competitions. The last time these two sides played each other was back in January 2012, when the Seagulls romped to a 3-0 victory.
Both sides will be looking to build on their recent form, in what is shaping up to be an exciting encounter at the Amex.
