Long appears to have picked up an injury from Southampton’s defeat to Stoke at the weekend, but has recovered and could now feature for Ireland in the international break.
The striker has started Southampton’s last three Premier League matches and is yet to score a goal this season for the club.
The Irish international is currently above Charlie Austin and Manolo Gabbiadini in the pecking order, despite the duo both having got off the mark this season.
Long now looks set to play for Ireland this week before heading back to Southampton.
