Southampton endured a rather frustrating August, with little transfer activity and little to excite the fans on the pitch.

The Saints failed to score in two of their three Premier League fixtures, and also failed to net in the League Cup as they bowed out to Wolves.

Mauricio Pellegrino’s men did end the month unbeaten in the league, though, with two draws and a win.

Southampton were held by Swansea and Huddersfield to 0-0 draws and beat West Ham 3-2 at St. Mary’s.

The club signed Mario Lemina, Jan Bednarek and Wesley Hoedt during the window, though some feel keeping hold of Virgil Van Dijk was their best bit of business.

The Saints spent over £30m on Hoedt and Lemina combined, with Lemina joining from Juventus for a club-record £18m – eclipsing the £16m paid for Sofiane Boufal from Lille last summer.

I asked our writers here at Read Southampton for their thoughts on the month via the medium of different awards.

So, without further ado, here are our monthly awards for August…
