Southampton host Watford at St. Mary’s on Saturday as they look to continue their unbeaten start to the Premier League season.
The Saint are yet to lose in the league, although it has not been as impressive as it sounds.
Two 0-0 draws and a 3-2 win made up Southampton’s Premier League results in August.
The draws coming against Swansea and Huddersfield, with the only win so far coming against bottom of the table West Ham.
The clash with Watford will be Southampton’s third home game in their first four league fixtures, which could be seen as an advantage for Mauricio Pellegrino – in his first season of English football.
Watford, meanwhile, are currently one place above Southampton in the table – on goal difference – having also won once and drawn twice.
They have scored two more goals than Southampton but has conceded one more as well.
Here is how we expect Southampton to line-up against Watford…
Fraser Forster
Two clean sheets in three games. Hard to see him being dropped now.
Cedric Soares
One of Southampton’s best players in August.
Jack Stephens
Player of the month for August, his spot isn’t in doubt.
Wesley Hoedt
Expect Hoedt to come in for his debut with Yoshida returning from international duty later than the rest of the squad.
Ryan Bertrand
Scored his first goal for England last week, he will be on a high coming into the game.
Mario Lemina
Impressive in his first two starts for the club so far. Expect him to continue his good start.
Oriol Romeu
No doubts here.
Nathan Redmond
Not been at his best so far but he will be looking to change that. He was excellent against Watford in the second half of last season.
Steven Davis
Provides stability and work-rate in the middle of the pitch and could be very useful against Watford’s midfield.
Sofiane Boufal
Dusan Tadic simply needs to be dropped after his poor start to the season. Boufal needs a chance to impress.
Manolo Gabbiadini
Until Austin proves otherwise, Gabbiadini is still the first choice striker.
