Hoedt agrees deal with Southampton
Wesley Hoedt has agreed a deal to sign for Southampton, according to Il Tempo, via Sport Witness.
The report claims that Hoedt has negotiated a €1.8m-per-year contract with the club ahead of his proposed move from Lazio.
Southampton are in the market for a new central defender and it appears as though Hoedt is that player.
The Saints have offered €15m + €2m in add-ons for the Dutchman, with II Tempo claiming that Lazio will accept the offer.
Hoedt’s agent agreed with Lazio that €17m would be his asking price at the start of the summer, with it looking as though the Rome-based club will be sticking to their agreement.
The report also says that Hoedt has bid his farewells to the Lazio squad as he prepares for his move to the Premier League.
The 23-year-old could be lining up alongside Virgil Van Dijk this season, after Chairman Ralph Krueger ruled out an exit for Hoedt’s compatriot.
