Spanish side Villarreal have joined Southampton, Sampdoria and Marseille in the race to sign Luciano Vietto from Atletico Madrid, according to Marca.
Having recently offloaded Roberto Soldado to Fenerbahce the La Liga side are in the market for a new forward.
Sampdoria want to bring in the Argentinian to fill the void that will be left by Patrick Schick, who is likely to leave for Juventus this summer.
The youngster striker is one of the hottest properties in Europe and the Turin side have pounced in an attempt to secure his signature.
The Italians are currently interested in a deal to sign the striker on loan with a view to a permanent deal later down the line.
Atletico Madrid, who are currently under a transfer ban and cannot register any players until January, would prefer to permanently offload the striker, who spent last season on loan at Sevilla.
