The Saints started the season with a goalless draw against a relentlessly defensive Swansea City side yesterday.

The game was dominated with Southampton chances, with Mauricio Pellegrino’s side racking up a total of 29 against the Swans.

Manolo Gabbiadini and Dusan Tadic created the first few chances, as Gabbiadini headed the ball onto the outside of the near post, and Tadic hit a shot past the post from very close range. These were two golden chances missed.

A handful of many other chances only saw two of them on target, but Swansea held on for dear life, meaning that Saints shared the points on the first match of the season.

Now it’s time to find out who you thought was Saints’ best performer on the day.

Take our duel below to have your say on who Southampton’s man of the match was!
