Lech Poznan defender Jan Bednarek is reportedly set to undergo a medical at Southampton as early as tomorrow.
According to a report from Polish news outlet Gol24, the young central defender is edging ever closer to sealing his move to the Premier League in what would be a huge deal for Lech.
It’s claimed that the fee in the deal is worth €6m, but with additional bonuses worth up to €2m. If a deal goes through and the medical goes as planned, the sale would be the most expensive in the history of Polish football.
However, although Gol24 state that the medical for Bednarek is scheduled for tomorrow, reliable Polish journalist Maciej Henszel states that the tests are not going to come as quickly as expected – but at some time this week.
Twitter: Jakby co to Janek Bednarek jutro jeszcze nie jedzie na testy medyczne. Pewnie w tym tygodniu, ale jeszcze nie jutro. (@MHenszel)
Bednarek played all three games in Poland’s Under-21 European Championships campaign, as they failed to make it out of the group stages.
The youngster impressed against Slovakia in their opening match, before enjoying a fairly quiet encounter against Sweden. However, he was sent off for two bookings against England having given away a penalty, as Poland crashed out with a 3-0 defeat.
