Southampton are reportedly considering a summer move for Kevin Wimmer.
The Austrian central defender has failed to really cement his place in Mauricio Pochettino’s plans at Tottenham and this has led to speculation regarding his future.
According to the Mirror, Saints are keen to end his nightmare at Spurs by bringing him to the south coast this summer, but will not pay the full price of his £20m valuation.
Wimmer has shown quality on a number of occasions for Spurs when called upon but is ultimately not better than Toby Alderweireld nor Jan Vertonghen. This has meant that his opportunities have been limited and a potential move away from North London this summer is on the cards.
Saints are stated to view Wimmer as a good option to partner Virgil van Dijk ahead of next season, with the club still adamant that they will be able to keep hold of their captain beyond this summer.
