Pellegrino said to prefer Palace switch
Southampton are set to hold talks with Mauricio Pellegrino over the vacant managerial post at the club, but it looks as though the Argentine’s preference is a switch to Crystal Palace.
According to a report from the Times, the former Valencia chief favours a move to South London instead of to the South Coast.
Pellegrino has been lined up by Steve Parish at Palace for some time now as he assesses his options to replace Sam Allardyce, and it looks as though the feeling is reciprocated from the young manager.
The ex-Liverpool defender led Alaves to an impressive ninth-placed finish in La Liga last season and helped them to a Copa Del Rey final, where they were unable to see off Barcelona.
His progress has attracted the attention of several top flight clubs and it looks as though Saints and Palace are both strongly interested.
Pellegrino seemingly remains in the frame for Saints, but the Times state that he wants a move to the Eagles.
