Southampton are keen to discuss a potential move to make Mauricio Pellegrino their new manager, according to Ed Malyon of the Independent.

The Argentinian coach has departed Deportivo Alaves after a superb season at the club. Pellegrino led them into the 2016/17 campaign as relegation favourites, but managed to keep them afloat and had them playing well as a unit.
A protege of Rafa Benitez, the 46-year-old also led Alaves to a cup final. They were unfortunate to be defeated at the last hurdle in the Copa Del Rey as Barcelona swept them aside.

Pellegrino has been largely touted with a move back to his homeland as a result of personal issues, but reports have also suggested that Palace are keen to hold talks with him as they look to find their replacement for Sam Allardyce.
It looks as though Claude Puel won’t be at Saints next season, and Pellegrino could very well be a name on their shortlist.
