Southampton manager Claude Puel has reportedly rejected Saint-Etienne’s second approach to appoint him as manager.
According to an exclusive report from France Bleu this afternoon, the Saints boss has rejected the chance to become their new chief despite them making him their number one target.
It was reported some time ago that Puel had declined ASSE’s first approach to make him their new manager, but it was then claimed weeks later that he had taken a liking to the project at hand, with him being made the first choice to replace Christophe Galtier.
However, it looks as though if France Bleu are to be believed, Puel will not be the man to take charge of Saint-Etienne.
The report does state that Saints are in line to dismiss him from the club in the near future, which suggests that Puel himself turning down ASSE is not linked to him being set to remain at St Mary’s.
Only time will tell whether the report from France Bleu is true or not, but the saga surrounding Claude Puel is rumbling on.
