Southampton were held by Manchester United at St. Mary’s on Wednesday evening, as Claude Puel’s side continued their poor goal scoring form at home.

Southampton started off well as they were awarded an early penalty, as Eric Bailly handled the ball in the area, but Manolo Gabbiadini’s shot was well saved by Sergio Romero.

The first half was quite dull after that, but was a completely different game in the second as James Ward-Prowse, Dusan Tadic and many others produced fantastic saves by United keeper Romero, so the points would be shared at St. Mary’s which gives Saints a one-point lead over West Brom for eighth place in the league.
