Nice holding firm on Seri valuation with Saints keen

Southampton have been linked with a move for OGC Nice midfielder Jean Seri for some time now, but they’ll have to cough up a huge sum to lure him away from the club.

The Ivorian midfield man has been enjoying a quite superb campaign under Lucien Favre, showing his quality on a number of occasions and cementing himself among the top midfielders in Ligue 1.

This has led to speculation, with Premier League duo Everton and Saints both keen to sign Seri this summer.

However, if they are to sign the enigmatic central midfielder from Nice, they’ll have to pay a club-record fee of €40 million to lure him away from France.

According to a report from Sport Mania back in Seri’s homeland, as reported by Sport Witness today, the club and the player’s representatives have agreed that if he is to move on from Nice, it will be for that price.

Saints’ club-record transfer fee is £16 million from the signing of Sofiane Boufal, and they’re unlikely to better that by over two times the amount with Seri in mind.
