Regarding transfers, Southampton centre-back Virgil van Dijk is the name on everyone’s lips and the top of everyone’s shortlist for this summer.
The Dutchman joined the Saints from Celtic for a reported transfer fee of £13 million in the summer of 2015 and, since then, he has hardly put a foot wrong .
The Southampton skipper possesses a rare combination of attributes that make him one of the best defenders in England.
Standing at six foot four, he is a strong, physical presence who wins the bulk of his aerial duels as he has won the most headers as a defender in the Premier League, per WhoScored.
Despite the physical and aggressive nature he has when winning the ball, he is a ball-playing centre-back comfortable carrying and playing the ball out of the back.
His impressive performances have earned him no shortage of suitors as he has been linked with moves to Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal, Everton, and even Real Madrid.
However, the 25-year-old Dutch international will not come cheap as Southampton are believed to have placed a £50 million price tag on him.
The following slides will assess the likelihood of each of the interested clubs signing van Dijk, providing he does choose to sadly move on from Saints.
