Southampton have been heavily linked with a move for Pontus Jansson over the last couple of days and his agent is certainly fuelling the speculation.
The Swedish central defender has an agreement in place to make his loan deal at Leeds United this season a permanent one at the end of the campaign, with the powerful 26-year-old impressing since his move from Torino.
However, it looks as though he is focused on playing in the Premier League next season, which could spell bad news for Leeds if they fail to secure promotion through the play-offs.
Jansson’s agent Martin Dahlin discussed his client’s future back in the defender’s homeland and told newspaper Expressen that he wants to be in the top flight as soon as possible.
He has set his sights on playing in the Premier League next season, that much I can say. But right now he focuses solely on Leeds.
Interest is high but you will not get me to say specific clubs.
Saints are going to be in the market for new central defenders in the summer, with Martin Caceres only signed on a short-term basis until the end of the season.
