Southampton’s winning run was ended at St.Mary’s as they lost 3-0 to fourth-placed Manchester City.
The Saints were put to a sword by a City side which welcomed the return of their captain Vincent Kompany at the heart of the defence.
The Belgian defender has struggled with injuries for a couple of seasons now but put in a superb shift at the back to shut Southampton out.
This allowed City’s attacking players to show what they could do, and boy they did.
Kevin De Bruyne ran the show at St.Mary’s and bagged himself two assists in the second half rout.
The opening goal came from Vincent Kompany though, as he headed home a David Silva corner.
De Bruyne then produced two assists as he set up Leroy Sane and then Sergio Aguero to settle the match and secure all three points for the away side.
