Southampton playmaker Dusan Tadic has heaped the praise on teammate Manolo Gabbiadini after his flying start to life in the Premier League.
The Serbian international hailed the influence of his Italian companion and was confident that his side could continue defying the odds by developing this season and beyond.
We have lost a lot of important players but that’s football. The club still has a good philosophy. It is still going in the right direction. That’s why I signed a new deal.
Tadic, as quoted by the Mirror, spoke of how although he prefers to score the goals for himself, he’s more than happy to make a ‘nice assist’ for a teammate and that’s exactly what’s he done in recent times.
I like to make goals but sometimes a nice assist is even better than a goal. Manolo is very important for us. He is a very smart player and knows how to score.
He is a team player, which is even more important. We have a good connection. We understand each other and, I hope, the more we do that, the more we can help the club.
Gabbiadini has fired home six goals in his first four games on the south coast, making a big impression on the Southampton supporters and establishing himself as one of the first names on Claude Puel’s team sheet.
He’ll now be hoping to continue his rich vein of goal scoring form into this Sunday’s clash against Tottenham Hotspur, with Tadic also hoping to start the match.
