Southampton host Leicester City tomorrow as they look to avoid five straight league defeats.
The Saints have lost their last four Premier League matches; against Burnley, West Brom, Tottenham and Everton.
Claude Puel has come under scrutiny, with Southampton currently sitting 13th in the table. Although a win tomorrow could take them back up to 11th.
Puel’s rotation policy has frustrated many Saints fans, with the club being knocked out of the Europa League and performing poorly in the league. However, Southampton could be in a EFL Cup final if they draw with/beat Liverpool next Wednesday.
The Saints won the first leg 1-0 at St Mary’s and are now set to travel up to Anfield to face Jurgen Klopp’s men to fight for a chance at silverware.
However, it is Leicester up first. The Saints host the champions tomorrow and here is how we expect Puel to line-up his Southampton team…
Fraser Forster
Undisputed number one at the club with McCarthy still out.
Cedric Soares
Far better than Martina, who played against Norwich on Wednesday.
Virgil van Dijk
His return to fitness will be a big boost, but an even bigger relief to Saints fans.
Maya Yoshida
Yoshida will keep his place after Fonte’s departure.
Ryan Bertrand
Bertrand was rested on Wednesday and will return to the starting line-up.
Oriol Romeu
Romeu was bizarrely brought on against Norwich but will return to the side.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg
Hojbjerg, having been benched against Norwich, is set to come in. It’ll be a big game for the youngster.
James Ward-Prowse
With Davis out, it’s likely that Ward-Prowse will get the nod ahead of Jordy Clasie.
Dusan Tadic
Tadic will look to provide the creative spark that Saints will need to break down Leicester.
Jay Rodriguez
Rodriguez is likely to be the man picked between him and Long.
Nathan Redmond
Redmond will look to continue his improved form of late.
