Southampton manager Claude Puel has outlined his targets for the season ahead.

The Saints have already fulfilled one of these targets and they’re not even halfway through the season, with them in the EFL Cup semi-final against Liverpool which is due to be played over two legs in January.

Despite Puel’s targets though, it’s sure that Saints will hope to go all the way and try to win the competition itself.

The target of being in the top half of the Premier League certainly isn’t unrealistic either, with Saints showing good signs of quality despite rotation in the opening months of the season. They’re currently in the lower half of the table but only by a small matter of points at this early stage.

As for the Europa League though, Puel’s ambition is clear and he wants to reach the last eight of the competition. Saints will need to beat Hapoel Be’er Sheva or draw 0-0 in order to progress to the round of 32.
