Southampton travel to face Manchester City tomorrow as they look to maintain their place in the top-half of the Premier League table.
The Saints sit eighth in the league at present, and will be looking to head further up the table with all three points at St.Mary’s.
Claude Puel has a number of selection dilemmas coming into the game. Ryan Bertrand, Matt Targett and Cedric Soares are all injured and, therefore, unavailable for selection.
Club-record signing Sofiane Boufal made his debut at Inter Milan on Thursday, which means that he could be in line to make his Premier League debut.
Jay Rodriguez is, however, back in contention to start and could find himself in the team.
Southampton have conceded just two goals in their last eight matches in all competitions, but Puel does have some very tough decisions to make throughout the team.
Here is how I think the Saints will line-up…
Fraser Forster
No doubts over this one. Easy pick between the sticks.
Cuco Martina
With Cedric and Jeremy Pied injured, Martina is a shoe in to start at right-back.
Virgil Van Dijk
It is completely unthinkable to drop Van Dijk on current form. He has, arguably, been Southampton’s player of the season thusfar.
Jose Fonte
After missing out to Maya Yoshida at the San Siro, Fonte should return to captain the team tomorrow alongside Van Dijk in defence.
Sam McQueen
McQueen was my man of the match against Inter, and he has taken to the pressure of first-team football very well.
With Bertrand and Targett still out, McQueen should have another chance to impress tomorrow.
Oriol Romeu
Most improved player since last season? Certainly is for me.
He has taken over the reigns from Victor Wanyama and been superb in holding midfield. Easy choice.
Jordy Clasie
Clasie pulled the strings against Burnley last week, with one of his finest performances in a Saints shirt to date.
The Dutchman deserves another opportunity to prove his worth to Puel.
Steven Davis
Despite good displays from Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and James Ward-Prowse against Inter, Puel likes to stick to his rotation policy.
Davis has been a favourite of the Frenchman’s in midfield, and I expect that to continue – especially after his industrious performance against Burnley.
Dusan Tadic
No questions over his place in the team. Tadic has thrived in the number ten role, and he will need to be at his best if Southampton are to pick up a result tomorrow.
Charlie Austin
Another simple choice for Puel. Austin has been on fire recently, and is clearly the best forward at the club on present form.
Nathan Redmond
Redmond missed the Europa League clash against Inter with a niggle, but is expected to be back in contention tomorrow.
His incredible display against Burnley should secure his place in the starting eleven.
