Southampton midfielder Jordy Clasie has expressed his desire to continue this good run of form with the club against West Ham tomorrow afternoon, the Dutchman told Saints’ official club website.

Hopefully we’ve taken a lot of confidence from last week. I think we will see at the weekend and we hope we can take it further. We have always had the confidence but the most important thing is to get points and in the last two games we’ve got two wins and two clean sheets.

Clasie has started two times this season against Arsenal and Swansea respectively and has caught the eye, especially in the away trip to the Emirates.

We want to keep the rhythm which is important because we’ve got a lot of games in the coming weeks and months.

The Netherlands international has had to be patient for chances on a regular basis this season due to the sheer quality in depth that Saints now possess in the midfield options.

Clasie also stated how he is happy that himself and the squad are adjusting to new manager Claude Puel’s plans, revealing how he is settling into the new diamond-styled formation that Frenchman Puel has implemented.

In the first couple of weeks I think it was a bit difficult for every player to play the system. We had a lot of meetings about that but everyone agreed that we have to work on it and we’re very happy with the last few games.

The tenacious midfielder will be hoping that he can continue his involvement in starting line-up when Saints make their first visit to the London Stadium tomorrow to try and make it four wins in as many games by beating a struggling West Ham.

Every three or four days we play a game so we need to stay fit and keep the confidence as well getting points.
