Southampton defender Jose Fonte has agreed a new two-year contract with the club, according to the Mirror.
The report says that Fonte has agreed terms with Southampton after meeting with Les Reed to iron out the finer details. Fonte will sign a new deal worth £70k-per-week, having previously earned £45k-per-week.

It is also said that Fonte has snubbed a move to Manchester United in doing so, with Jose Mourinho having been keen to add him to his squad before next week’s deadline.
Fonte won the European Championships with Portugal this summer, which had led to speculation over his short-term future with Southampton. However, this now appears to have been resolved with Fonte agreeing a new contract.
One factor in the new deal could have been Southampton’s participation in the Europa League group stages, which will be drawn tomorrow at 1pm BST. Southampton will be in the 3rd pot for the draw.
