So, Southampton now find themselves just over three weeks into the window and, despite having brought in two signings already, more and more players are being touted with a move to the south coast.
In the recent week, however, they have taken another step forward in their preparations for the coming Premier League season as they have seen off their second pre-season opposition in recent days.
Saints trounced Eredivise outfit PEC Zwolle by four goals to nil thanks to a smart double from new signing Nathan Redmond and two well-taken finishes from Charlie Austin and Saints’ second summer signing Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who scored from the penalty spot.
With still over a month left of the transfer window, it’s likely that Saints are still hunting around for reinforcements at both ends of the pitch and will continue to work towards potential targets; it’s in our nature as football fans to be impatient, but we should trust the club to secure the right men in good time.
